In Season 6.17.12

The annual survey of New Zealand Winegrowers puts the 2012 harvest of sauvignon blanc grapes at 181,000 tonnes, a reduction of 43,000 tonnes compared to last year.

A supply imbalance the industry has struggled with in recent years has now disappeared. The survey also forecasts a 3% drop in the tonnage of cabernet sauvignon grapes, a 25% downturn in the pinot noir harvest and a 12% drop in merlot. [RadioNewZealandNews]
