Tomatoes Are In Season

Most farmers markets across North America now have at least one vendor with tomatoes.

Large slicing tomatoes take about 85 days to ripen after planting; smaller cherry, plum and roma tomatoes require much less time and are the first to appear.

Test for ripeness by touch and smell; unripe tomatoes are lighter, ripe tomatoes will have a strong earthy scent at the stem.
